The Confusionaires
The Confusionaires are a world-class traditional rock & roll band that are steeped in both big-city rock & roll and small-town country music. Hailing from Edmonton, Canada, the trio of musicians has built a sound that’s synonymous with the best country-rock and rockabilly acts around, with a strong penchant for original songwriting.
The trio cut their teeth in the Edmonton and Calgary music scenes in early 2017 by taking any opportunity they could get on the reputation of their previous bands alone, which took them all the way until February 2018 when they went into Edmontone Studio and recorded their 13-song debut album “It’s time to make a little mess with… Confusionaires” live off the floor. This album boosted them on college radio throughout Alberta and the prairies and got them into a great number of small festivals.
A year later, The Confusionaires found themselves in the studio again, recording the album “From The Headache To The Heartache” which featured another 13 songs that hit a little harder and pushed a little faster than it’s predecessor. The album was released in February of 2020, which turned out to be a bad time to release an album. The band lost 26 shows throughout Western Canada in the first half of 2020 – However, with the strength of the band’s pull in the Alberta community, the album’s physical vinyl release sold out entirely with no touring to support it… which in-turn, sent The Confusionaires back into the studio again.
Since they began to record their third full-length album, a pandemic project “Westernization,” Confusionaires have broadened both their sound, and their reach beyond the barstool dwellers to include not only independent radio listeners, but also the festival and theatre-going audiences of Alberta and beyond. Their push to reach live music fans in these settings has proven fruitful, growing their fan base and their status beyond what seemed possible when they performing in the spring of 2017.
To date, Confusionaires have played well over 100 shows in Western Canada, having played gritty punk rock shows and pristine theatre concerts alike, earning new fans in both settings. To illustrate the band’s versatility, they’ve opened for Sass Jordan and Nashville Pussy in the same year. They’ve opened for Norwegian psychobilly legends ‘The Nekromantix’ and Canadian songwriting legend Luke Doucet’s VEAL in the same month. They’ve been given prime placement in numerous festivals throughout Alberta, and as of January 2024, the trio has joined the ranks of international touring acts. The Confusionaires toured the Riviera Nayarit, Mexico in February 2024 and got a real taste for international touring and comradery.
Since returning, The Confusionaires have begun pre-production on what will be their fourth studio album, with the biggest and most well-planned campaign to date. In conjunction with the ramp-up to this, The Confusionaires have joined the roster of Graffitti Music, with Trent Schmiedge as their booking agent.
As The Confusionaires round out their 7th year of being a band, the future’s looking brighter than ever. The Confusionaires look forward to what adventures will come with the next album… or even the next tour…
… Hell, the next show!
