Julian Austin

Julian Austin was born in Sussex, NB and was raised in the Grand Bay/Saint John, NB area.

In 1996 Julian signed a major record deal with BMG Music Canada. Soon after, Julian teamed up with friend and accomplished producer and writer, Daniel Leblanc, (Alanis Morissette, Dean McTaggart) to record what has become Julian’s best selling CD to date “What My Heart Already Knows”. Soon after the 1997 debut release of this CD it earned Julian a certified CRIA gold record (50k+ sales) and the 1997 Wrangler Rising Star Award from the Canadian Country Music Association. His first single “Little Ol’ Kisses” went #1 on radio and also made the CMT Top 30 Videos of 1997.

Austin’s first single “ Little Ol’ Kisses” went #1 on CMT Canada and country music radio in Canada. He also won “Best Country Single” at the first annual Canadian Radio Music Awards in 1998 for “Little Ol’ Kisses” and was also nominated for several Juno’s that same year. While getting ready to record his second album “Back In Your Life” Austin was severely injured in a bullriding accident at friend Kelly Armstrong’s bullriding school in Olds, AB on January 9th, 1999 leaving him with several broken and cracked ribs, a punctured right lung and a gaping hole in his right leg. Austin spent the next several months healing and preparing for his “Back In Your Life” CD with a cut on the album he wrote for the bullriders called “Holdin’ On For 8” a kind of a theme song for the warriors of the rodeo world he says.

After releasing his follow up CD “Back In Your Life” in early 2000 it earned him seven CCMA nominations. His band “The Austinators” won “Best Back Up Band”– two years in a row. The following year Austin severed ties with his record company BMG Music amicably and kept touring intensely across Canada keeping his die-hard and loyal fan base entertained.

Austin then went onto record his third album with Myles Goodwin of April Wine in2002 called “Bullet Proof”. Shortly there after Julian parted ways Mr. Goodwin’s label Civilian Records.

In 2004, 2005 and 2006 Julian had the honour to entertain our Canadian troops, SFOR & NATO troops as well overseas in Bosnia, Southwest Asia and Afghanistan and has played nearly every Canadian Forces base in Canada including CFS Alert Nunavut. Austin says with pride “of all the great things that he has experienced in his lifetime, performing for our soldiers of many different countries is at the very top of his list – the feeling he says that he has had being over there with the troops is beyond unimaginable.

In 2006 Julian released his fourth CD with long time friend Barry Mathers of the Cruzeros called “The Red & White”, an album that did quite well for Julian and he says it was an awesome time writing with Barry and recording that album.

In 2009 Julian’s fifth CD “One For One” was released. Julian got to reunite once again with longtime friend and producer Daniel LeBlanc.

Since his days of travelling overseas rockin’ the house for troops, Julian has always remained dedicated to those who serve and have served. Many years later Julian is still rockin’ the house for his fans here and Canada and at the young age of 60, Julian says that he’s just getting started and has lots of brand new music for his awesome and ever so loyal fans coming soon.

Julian has just recently released a brand new tribute song called “Still Over There” which is in honour of the millions of brave and selfless souls that have given their all and have sacrificed so much for all of us and for our freedom, so be sure to check out his latest video for “Still Over There”.

I think it’s safe to say folks that “The Bad Boy With The Big Heart” is coming back, and back in a big way.
